FACTUAL DESCRIPTIVE WRITING

Most important is to study your subject closely. Descriptive writing calls for close attention to details. Whether your subject is as small as an ant or or as large as a football stadium, you should begin by observing your subject closely and deciding which details are most significant.

What is the difference between descriptive writing and factual writing?
Descriptive writing is artistic with embellishments, factual writing provides exact information.

TIPS TO WRITE
- Step by step account of an activity, experiment, procedure.
- The idea should be systematically presented with important points coming first, followed by not-so-important.
- Language: Semi formal, simple, attractive and appealing.

Don't tell..................Show

Use descriptive and figurative language , similes and metaphor work well.

Telling......
1.The house was old.
2.He was smart .
3.The clock had been in our family for years.

Showing ......
1.The house frowned with a wrinkled brow and inside it creaked with each step.
2.If you had to pick a study buddy ,you would pick this guy.
3.The clock stood by our family faithfully marking the minutes and hours of our lives.

PERSON BASED
Other than language and content (thought sequence and event process)
